MoMA × Bauhaus
Workshops for Modernity, 1919–1933
A century-old movement, re-set for today: an exhibition catalogue and two posters for MoMA's Bauhaus show.
Art direction, typography, research, poster artwork & graphic design
An editorial concept for MoMA's 1919–1933 Workshops for Modernity exhibition: a 20-page catalogue and promotional posters designed for the present day.
It began with an open-ended typographic study of the exhibition and the movement: its values, visual history, cultural impact, branding, promotional materials, language and colour. Semiotics and typographic contextualisation guided an in-depth visual analysis of Bauhaus graphic patterns, refined into a contemporary catalogue that credits and references every existing article and image.
Two promotional posters complete the set, made with analogue illustration and expressive typographic treatments.
